A new concept design sees Superman star Henry Cavill taking on the role of Captain Britain for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Henry Cavill’s Superman was last seen in the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League on HBO Max, but the British actor’s time as the Man of Tomorrow has been in doubt for a few years now. Cavill was recently rumored to show up at Comic-Con to hype up his future as Superman, but the actor never showed up to the event, as he was busy filming the third season of Netflix’s The Witcher.
This concept design by Instagram user “clements.ink” imagines Henry Cavill as Marvel’s Captain Britain, leaving the role of Superman behind. Cavill has previously expressed interest in playing Captain Britain, saying that it’d be “loads of fun to do a cool, modernized version” of the iconic Marvel character. You can see what Cavill could look like as Captain Britain below.
Created by Chris Claremont and Herb Trimpe, Captain Britain made his first comic book appearance in October 1976. Also known as Brian Braddock, Captain Britain was granted his powers by the legendary magician Merlyn and his daughter Roma. He has been depicted as a member of the superhero group Excalibur, an offshoot of the X-Men, but he’s also been affiliated with teams like the Secret Avengers.
Captain Britain has yet to make a live-action appearance as Marvel hasn’t announced any big or small screen plans for the character. The company recently unveiled a slew of fresh titles at San Diego Comic-Con, including a reboot of the Fantastic Four and two new Avengers projects.
